My Nightly Ritual 💤 How to enjoy your dreams

Updated: Apr 21, 2022

Do you find yourself having trouble falling asleep or not being able to detach yourself from work for the day? Do you have a lot on your mind? Heck, sometimes I avoid going to sleep, just because I like the thrill of staying up late. If you sometimes find yourself tossing and turning, let me fill you in on few different things that help me fall asleep after a long day. Let's start with a comfy bed, some essentials oils, and your favorite book.

Unironically, one of my favorite parts of the day is the time right before bed. I have always been a night owl, or rather a night rabbit... they too are nocturnal. I like this time of the evening because the moon is out, and it feels like a time to naturally be introspective. Often, I am full of creative ideas at this hour, and so here are the ways I wind down, get ready for bed, and prepare myself for the next day.

  1. Finish up any items I am working on:

As an artist and influencer, I find myself gravitating towards working on something artistic right up until it's time for me to go to sleep. Although I can appreciate staying up all night when a burst of inspiration strikes, it is important too to know when to put a pause on things until tomorrow. Getting a good night's rest, after all, is the best thing we can do for our mind!

2. Skincare :)

I am very passionate about skincare and believe it to be a very relaxing way to signal to my mind & body that it is time for bed. Depending on my activities that day, I like to do a light cleanser followed by toner, essence, serum, gel, moisturizer, eye cream, and face oil. There's a lot of steps, I know! Then brush those teeth, smile, maybe post a goodnight selfie to #instagram.

3. Save energy, check locks, safety fun:

It's always good to know your doors are locked, candles are out, and stove is off. I have learned somethings the hard way, so you can remember the easy way :)

Oh & turn off the lights, it's bedtime!

4. Meditate, read a book, write a note in bed:

The next step is all about personal time & space. I love once I finally get to climb into my bed complete with a Ghostbed Memory Foam Topper, because it's when I really can turn off the outside world for the day. It's just me in my comfortable place heading off to dreamland.

5. Think of the things your are grateful for:

This may be a cheesy way to finish out the end of my day, however, the last thing I do before falling asleep is think of the things I am grateful for that happened that day. I find that having this moment of affirmation allows for more good tidings to flow your way. It also can influence our spirits to bring us good dreams that night. I can have very intense dreams, so I like to have the last few moments before I doze off by reflecting on thankful feelings.

Oh, of course... put your phone on silent & set your alarm clock!
